Hallucinations: A person hallucinating may be aware that s/he's hallucinating. I know many schizophrenic patients who recognize that their hallucinations are exactly that. However, some people don't have this insight -- and some hallucinations tell you to do scary things. People hallucinating from some drugs or withdrawal states may also be aware they're hallucinating, and be extremely frightened.

Yes: People who have schizophrenia, and have been battling it for a long time come to know the onset of their hallucinations, and this helps better control them and their reaction to them, because they know they are not real. On the other hand people who are suffering from the early onset of schizophrenia can suffer a hallucination for the first time, and believe that it's totally real.
