Round marks: Hello, these round marks may be from a fungal or tinea infection. I would recommend you have your boyfriend follow up with his doctor for an evaluation and treatment.

Was he drinking?: Does your boyfriend drink alcohol? He could have injured himself while intoxicated. Does he use drugs? Skin popping certain drugs will also result in sores. Of course, there are many other possibilities too. For more personalized ideas, it's best that he see a doctor who can take a look, in person. Good luck.
