No Answer: There would be no answer from a physician on this question. The best i can think of would be to follow the piercer's recommendation. I would only add that when you are pain free, not bleeding and do not have any sores.

Tongue piercing: At least 72 hours to allow for healing. Do now, however, that tongue piercings have been implicated in damage to the tongue side of lower teeth, damage to the bone/gum tissues that support the lower teeth, and infections.
