Historical use, yes: Electronarcosis was an electrical treatment predating electroconvulsive therapy [ect -- which is still used today to help treat severely depressed and/or psychotic people]. In electronarcosis, electric current was passed through the brain (after premedication) to induce sleep -- not seizures as in ect. It's no longer used today, but very anxious people supposedly benefited.
