Veins: Hemorrhoids are normal veins in the anal canal. They can become inflamed or enlarged with constipation or prolonged and repeated straining to have a bowel movement. Treated at home by avoiding constipation, drink plenty of liquids, eat more fiber (fruits, vegetables, metamucil), avoid junk foods, warm bath soaks. See a surgeon if symptoms persist.
