This is serious: "low iron" may be a pop term for anemia, which is always serious and requires finding the cause. Low serum iron generally indicates iron deficiency or perhaps chronic inflammation. Either one requires a search for the reason -- it may be nothing deeper than a non-supplementing vegetarian or heavy bleeding each month, but a cause needs to be identified and the deficiency rx'd for health.
