"jock itch": Usually the term refers to a fungal infection, but may be other infectious agents (bacterial or with insects: "crabs"). The best course is to see a health care professional to determine the cause, and treat. If you are treated approptiately, and do not have other partners, the problem is not contagious post treatment. But if the specific cause reoccurs, so can the infection.
