Depends: If you have only recently had your extractions, it can be uncomfortable for a few days. However, if it has been 4 days or more and you are not feeling relief, talk to the dentist to rule our a dry socket or infection.

Dry socket?: Throbbing usually implies dry socket. Can occur between 3-7 days after extraction. See oral surgeon for prompt relief.
