The skin right above my upper lip is all red and looks like it's bruised under the skin?

Upper lip redness: I suspect that you are repeatedly (if unconsciously) licking your upper lip.  this causes mild inflammation, which blunts the contrast between your lip and skin.  this is a hard habit to break, but if you're doing it, you won't clear up completely unless you stop licking.
