How long after you stop taking warfarin does it stay in your system?

3 days...: Warfarin inhibits the liver production of certain clotting factors. These have variable "half-lives" or life span. For all of them to be regenerated generally takes about three days.

72 hours.: Warfarin or Coumadin (warfarin) is an oral anticoagulant which remains in the system about 72 hours or 3 days. We tell patients who are on this medication and who are planning a surgical procedure to stop taking it for 3 days before the procedure.
