How can a thyroid become mottled?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unclear question: It is not clear what you mean by "mottled"? Who used this term, and in what context? This term is sometimes used on ultrasound to indicated that the thyroid is not homogeneous, but it is not a very useful term. If you have a thyroid disorder, you may wish to see an endocrinologist.
