Genes: Somebody in the immediate family or grandparents must have had blue eyes. Genetic transmission may miss a generation or two and thus people are amazed at things that they don't see in their parents.

Colored contact lens: We fit ciba freshlook colours soft contacts for this with good success. However, it is difficult to achieve "true blue' eyes. It "looks" artificial. A great choice is actually their grey or honey lenses. Creates a nice look.
