Possibly.: If the muscle pull, or tear, bleeds, it can cause the skin to turn black and blue. These blood by-products can cause an irritation of the skin, which can cause itching. If this is the case, it will clear up when the black and blue goes away.

Itching = Healing: When our bodies sustain an injury, the immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body bringing healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. The nerves in the area respond to this inflammation in varying intensity as things heal from pain to itching and possibly with numbness. This is a normal part of healing.
