GOUT/CHARCOT: It could be many things. I will direct my answer to two. One, gout. Usually seen in males and post-menopausal females. Also, very painful. Two, are you diabetic? If so, it could be an unusual problem happening to your ankle called Charcot (CHAR-co) neuroarthropathy. If you are in these categories, see your doctor. Sincerely, Dr. Latva
