Not any more common: Dizziness is not any more common an effect than it is for zoloft.  If you didn't have the effectin zoloft it is likely that it will not occur on lexapro (escitalopram).

Zoloft to Lexapro (escitalopram): Many physicians will do a cross taper gradually lowering the dose of one antidepressant while raising the dose of another. If however it has been determined that the zoloft has been of absolutely no benefit than there is no need for a cross taper. The Lexapro (escitalopram) should block any possible ssri discontinuation syndrome. Discontinuation symptoms with zoloft have been reported to be 1 to 2% but in my clinical experience have actually been far less than that. You should have no problem doing this. Best wishes.

If it is approved by: Your prescribing provider. Both are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Lexapro (escitalopram) is approved for treatment of major depression ; generalized anxiety disorder but some doctors use it off label for panic disorder ; agoraphobia.

Switching SSRI's: You may be fine, since both these medications are ssri's.  However, it's also possible to cross-taper these medications (decreasing zoloft while gradually increasing lexapro (escitalopram)).  Not everyone needs 20 mg of lexapro (escitalopram).

Start Lexapro (escitalopram): While still on the zoloft . I usually have someone start  on a small dose of the Lexapro (escitalopram) and increase it gradually while at the same time, taper down even more slowly  on the zoloft. Each new antidepressant essentially has to start over again and needs time to work. Therefore you don't want to go off the zoloft too quickly, you may find out it had been doing much more for you than you had thought.

Zoloft vs lexapro: The lowest dosage form for Zoloft is 25 mg, the lowest dose to start with is 50 mg, but what for? Indications differ, and I wouldn't recommend doing it on your own, switching psychiatric medications without medical supervision is hazardous, kindly see or talk to your prescriber or seek a second opinion in person

This varies: A common way would simply be to start 10 mg Lexapro and after a week or two, reduce Zoloft to 25 mg for 1-2 weeks, then stop.  Depending on side effects and clinical symptoms, your doctor may modify to faster, slower, or a different medication.  Drug interactions with other medications would also need to be screened.
