i've had an allergic reaction (skin rash) to a dose increase of sertraline.  the rash is on my face, neck, chest, back and arms.  i took a full 25 mg dose 1x and woke up with a slight rash on my face.  took a 2nd 25 mg dose and the rash is now everywhere

my 13 yo son has been on 50 mg of zoloft (sertraline) for 3 months.   having rashes from the sun & other issues.  can we just stop?  can't get a hold of his dr.

I don't know the: reason. I would ask the prescribing provider. If a person had recurrent hives or other condition that appeared to be related to anxiety, a provider might consider prescribing an SSRI. It's always appropriate to ask what the indication for prescribing a medication is as you are part of your own treatment team. Take care.

can i replace setraline with tumeric? i have a drug eruption from the fillers in setrraline and my insurance company does not cover brand name zoloft?

: No.  Turmeric may provide some anti-inflammatory effect, but it is not a medication and does not have the same abilities to treat you as sertraline. Please contact your prescribing physician immediately to discuss your adverse reaction to the sertraline and consider other options.

Zoloft (sertraline) allergy?: In cases of allergy it's probably better to stop the medicine than continue to itch.  Also you've been on a very low dose for relatively  short time.  You'll probably be fine -- and may stop scratching too.  There are other medications that may help the problem that resulted in the zoloft prescription. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can help the itching, in meantime. Work with your doctor, and get well.

Rash: Reactions to ssri withdrawal can occur, especially if done too rapidly. I've known of itching or hive-like reactions but not rash. Did you have a rash when you started it?
