Talk with your doc: All antidepressants when stopped abruptly can lead to some withdrawal like symptoms, some much more so than others.  There are many different taper schedules but this is something best reviewed with your prescribing doctor as he/she should also know that you plan on stopping a particular medication like this. Possibly: Concentration &amp; memory problems are fairly common with major depression. Treating the depression may help with those symptoms. However - I would not prescribe both those meds at the same time.

hi i am currently being seen for anxiety and depression - effexor xr 75 and zoloft 100 mg. i am still experiencing trouble sleeping, concentration, and restlessness. i see my primary this friday and have been seeing her for almost 6 months. any recommendations on what to ask her to try or maybe increase for these issues?

TAKE ONE AND MAXIMIZ: I do not think that the medication regimen that you are on would be my choice. You should take either the Effexor or the Zoloft and not both. There is duplication My suggestion would be to maximize the Effexor and taper off the Zoloft. Effexor has a dual mechanism of action when you increase and it can go up to 225mg or even300mg. Perhaps see a psychiatrist that specializes in this.

i have an anxiety disorder. ive tried zoloft, prozac, venlafaxine, cipralex, quetiapine. now i use paxil. all these medications make me sleepy during the day and cause troubles with concentration and memory. are there any other options?

A few good choices: Lexapro tends to have fewer side effect than other ssri meds, buspar which also works by increasing serotonin, and is often pretty easy to tolerate . Wellbutrin might be worth trying and is often easy to tolerate. Optimize your diet , lots of leafy greens, avoid inflammatory foods -dairy, grains and sugar

Zoloft (sertraline): Zoloft (sertraline) is one of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, hence produces elevation in serotonin levels which produce reduction in symptoms of depression & anxiety.

no: I don't know if you mean once, by mistake, or regularly.  If you doubled your dose by mistake once, it's unlikely to be harmful, although you might suffer serotonin side-effects (stomach upset, jitteriness, restlessness).  Taking 300 on a regular basis usually does more harm than good.  It's not okay if your doctor didn't prescribe it that way.
