Accepted Answer

Yes and no: Sertraline was designed to not be activating.   In practice, though, it can cause some increase in anxiety and agitation, in which case talk to your doctor if it is disturbing to you and see about changing.   Sometimes, though, as a person becomes less depressed they feel more clear headed and awake.  If anything is disturbing your mood, talk to your provider.

accidentally took a double dose of zoloft (i take 25mg pill cut in half so 12.5mg) right after coffee, 7 hours in between. any side effects?

Accepted Answer

Sounds ok: A person should not notice a huge difference when accidentally taking one whole 25mg pill of Zoloft, if she has been taking half of a pill each day. In general, with these lower or "starting" doses of Zoloft, no worries.

i read that zoloft can increase the half life of caffeine. is this true? i want to drink coffee but i wont if it will innteract with my medication.

?: This may be possible, but I have not heard of it being important in any clinical way.  I have many patients on sertraline ( and there are probably millions world wide )  and I would bet a very large number of them drink coffee.  I can't find a report of this interaction.

is it fine to drink one cup of coffee in the morning everyday, if i'm taking zoloft & strattera (atomoxetine) & fish oil?  an does it  prevent meds' effectivity ?

May potentiate: Drinking caffeine may potentiate the activity of the antidepressant and strattera (atomoxetine). Discuss this with your doctor.

every night before i go to bed, i experience stomach cramping and gas, alongside occasional diarrhea. i am extremely anxious all of the time, i take 150 mg of zoloft. i drink coffee. i also do targeted ab workouts. what should i do? is it serious?

Accepted Answer

: Continue to stay healthy.  The abdominal cramping and gas may be related to something that you are eating that you may be sensative to.  Keep a diary of food eaten and symptoms and then begin eliminating food that may be causing your problems.  
You should check with your PCP to assist you.

forgot to take my zoloft and klonopin before bed so woke up and took them without water and went back to sleep. woke up with slight discomfort in throat but feels pretty raw when i drink coffee. think pills got stuck. what should i do?

Recommend: avoiding acidic food/drink temporarily. Consider Saltwater gargles: Mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with Aloe Vera juice twice a day.   Hydrate with water.

i am taking 50 mg zoloft, (sertraline) .5 mg klonopin, omega 3 supplement and vitamin b complex to manage my ocd. i also drink coffee. is this a safe combination?

Yes, but minimize: stimulants--even coffee--as these can make OCD Sx's worse.

is it ok to take green coffee tables while taking sertraline?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Don't expect to get to sleep right away. It may also cause palpitations and anxiety.
