Chest pain eval: Chest pain is usually something that should be evaluated by your physician regardless of what medication you think it might be a side effect of. It is not a common side effect of Zoloft. Chest pain can be caused by anxiety, which is one of the things Zoloft is meant to treat, but it's best to not assume or treat on your own and to have your doctor evaluate and make that determination.

i took 50 mg of zoloft (sertraline) in the middle of the night without water. now my esophagitis is burning and i'm having chest pain. will it subside?

Yes: Usually pills are better to swallow with some water. Taking zoloft (sertraline) taking without water may be stuck in your esophagus , where it at dissolve causing localized irritation. Drink some water and also take for few days Prevacid

Stimulant: Adipex is a stimulant and could cause similar symptoms to what you experienced with ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate).  It is a controlled substance, and legally is only available by prescription.  Please discuss all medications you're using -- or even thinking of using -- with your physician.  If it's weight loss you want, there are safer ways for you to accomplish that.

i have been diagnosed with anxiety and take zoloft. today i had a surge of hot flash and dizzines, chest pain, short of breath for about 30 min. bp went to 145/101. an hour later it was 130/79. heart attack or likely anxiety? 27yo female?

: Chest pain accompanied by shortness of breath is concerning and warrants evaluation. See your physician and obtain a resting EKG &amp; cardiac enzymes. If normal, the next step would be a treadmill stress test to evaluate coronary circulation &amp; look for possible blockages. At your age a more likely possibility was coronary artery spasm. A cardiologist is best to evaluate,test&amp;advise you.

Consider ER: That sounds like a tough situation, you may need an EKG and blood work to rule out heart attack and maybe even a CT angio to rule out pulmonary thromboembolism although I am hoping that it is something more benign, you may need to see a psychiatrist if symptoms persist despite being evaluated by a doctor that can rule out a cardiovascular process!  Stay safe!

Ask for talk therapy: In addition to the zoloft, (sertraline) you can ask for a referral to a good psychotherapist to help you with your anxiety.  Medication alone will not manage it successfully.  Also, if you're having chest pains you need a checkup with your family physician.  Anxiety can certainly cause chest pain, but your doctors would not want to miss anything else.

No: These are possible side-effects, but they don't usually happen, ie, it's not "normal".  Talk to the doctor who prescribed it — you may need a lower dose, or maybe a different medicine.  In the meantime, drinking plenty of water (and getting up slowly) sometimes helps the "i'll fall over" feeling.
