: Sometimes when nausea is accompanied by pain, I've found that zofran may not be so effective. Most importantly, is gastritis the accurate diagnosis? You could try peppermint. I all else fails, I recommend going back to the ER where you'll be reexamined and could get an injection with old fashioned  compazine

i had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy done 6 days ago due to my gallbladder functioning at 0% (no gallstones). each day since the surgery, my nausea has gotten worse despite the use of zofran, pepto bismol, etc. is this normal?

Should be fine: The zofran (ondansetron) is for nausea and vomiting and you should wait at least 1/2 hour after using it in the disolvable form before using the pepto

Yes: as pepto-bismol won't help your nausea, but if symptoms aren't improving and zofran isn't helping, see your doctor, good luck

Yes: It should be safe as long as you have no history of a reaction to PeptoBismol and no history of chronic GI illness. Always follow the dosing directions and consult with a pharmacist regarding drug interactions.

NO!: Never give a prescription med not prescribed to a person without permission of that person's doctor.  Also, adult Pepto-bismol should not be given to children 16 years and younger.  Read labels  Try sips (1-2 tsps) of flat 7-up/sprite every 10 minutes for a couple of hours, then gradually increase amount slowly as long as its not being vomited.  See MD if no better in 12-24 hours on clear liquids

Heartburn: It's likely heartburn but you should have a stress test to rule out a cardiac cause. GERD can be refractory in some people. Nissen fundoplication is an alternative treatment for refractory cases.
