in june my calcium level was 9.7. in july the calcium level was 10.7. i have been taking calcium citrate 600 mg of calcium, 300 mg of magnesium, 15 mg of zinc, i mg copper, and 5 mg manganese. is this the probable cause of of high calcium. thanks?

: I am wonder why you had blood test done in two consecutive months unless you have significant underlying medical problems which require monthly lab. The calcium level may vary with volume, high calcium may be present when volume is low (usually you will see a higher albumin and Hct at the same time). In general, taking 500-1,000 mg of calcium citrate a day is not causing that change. Take care.

YES: The supplements you describe are safe...but their "benefit" is NOT well studied!
NOTE Do NOT exceed the instructions they come with! Large amounts of ViT D is NOT safe!!!!!!

Yes: Personally I am not a fan of multivitamins. These are required in small amounts and a balanced diet should provide enough.

RDA-Zinc: The recommended dietary allowance is 11mgm/day for men and 8 mgm/day for women.
Best sources of zinc include oysters, lobster, red meats, liver.Plant sources include wheat, sesame, poppy, alfalfa, celery, beans and nuts.

Why?: I am wondering about this question. A low-zinc diet is sometimes prescribed for pompholyx though it's difficult and relatively ineffective, but if someone has told you to limit your intake of thiamine, you are receiving bizarre and inappropriate advice. There may be a misunderstanding, if so, write back.

Challenge for vegans: B12 is necessary for nerve &amp; red blood cells. Top dietary sources are beef/turkey/chicken/salmon/clams/oysters/crab--challenging for vegetarians! Top folic acid foods are fortified cereals/lentils/spinach/broccoli/white beans/asparagus/cantaloupe/eggs. As for zinc: again fortified cereals and pasta, back to oysters. Statistically, most Americans get zinc from red meat and poultry.
