8 weeks: Only 20% of infected people have symptoms, usually mild fever + aches + rash lasting less than a week. It might be transmitted sexually and was once found transmitted from male to female 6 weeks after infection. CDC recommends avoiding conception for 8 weeks.

Miami-Dade county: It depends on the specific part of Florida.  The only areas of Florida where Zika is carried by the local mosquitoes are two areas of Miami-Dade County. In addition to the previously identified area in the Wynwood neighborhood, there is now mosquito-borne spread of Zika virus in a section of Miami Beach.  It doesn't get cold enough there in fall/winter to kill off mosquitoes.  Look at www.cdc.gov

No: The Zika virus is only spread through mosquito bites or sex with an infected person.  If you wear long sleeves, long pants you can reduce risk of mosquito bites. Most adults only have mild symptoms if they contract Zika (fever, rash, joint pains) and recover without any side effects.

Probably no need: There is no evidence of person to person transmission of Zika, except maybe rarely by sexual contact. There is no known transmission by contact with a contaminated environment, shared utensils or food, toilets, etc. However, it's a new problem and new or different information could become available. But for the time being, the virus is not being transmitted at all in the US.

Doesn't matter: As yet there is no mosquito transmission of Zika in the US. That could change. If and when it happens, we can expect it primarily in warm climates in the SE, like Florida, other Gulf states, and the Carolinas. If so, time of day won't be an important issue. Even if some mosquito carriers at most active at different times, all-day protection will be necessary, especially for pregnant women.
