On the other hand, patients with fibromyalgia can develop pain from other conditions as well, such as degenerative disc disease in the spine.  Don't hesitate to be seen.  A physical exam and appropriate tests can go a long way in determining the cause.

See your doctor: Has this been evaluated?  Sounds like a pilonidal cyst and sinus tract; however, the findings warrant at least an exam and likely an ultrasound of the area to ensure that there is no connection of the opening with the spinal area.  You also want to make sure that the lump isn't a different type of mass.  SEE YOUR DOCTOR!
