?: Zantac (ranitidine) , although used mainly for acid suppression, is used to block another histamine receptor (H2). It is supposed to enhance the effectiveness of antihistamine which blocks (H1) receptor.  Consider trying Zyrtec up to 4 doses per day without or with Zantac (ranitidine).  Unfortunately the cause for chronic urticaria is often unknown.

Nasal Steroid: Speak to your PCP about adding a nasal steroid to your regimen such as Flonase or nasonex (mometasone). Sometimes the pills dont control symptoms enough alone.

No: It used to be thought that the addition of medications such as ranitidine or Famotidine may be helpful since they do block one of the histamine receptors.  However, current guidelines do not support the use of the medications in the treatment of hives.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is better than zantac. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an h1 blocker, zantac is not. I like Allegra more than Benadryl (diphenhydramine) because Allegra does not cause drowsiness.

Hive treatment: Hives can be acute, lasting less than 6 weeks or chronic lasting greater than 6 weeks, (possibly even for years). Antihistamines might control hives but could be needed long-term. Try stopping daily antihistamines once every month for a few days to see if they are still needed. See an allergist to help find the underlying cause if your pcp fails to discover a trigger.

Cholinergic ?: There is a condition known as cholinergic urticaria (small bumps) which occurs during the cooling down period after a rise in core body temperature (hot shower, exercise, stress etc). If this fits your pattern, then try taking the antihistamine up to every 8 hrs to see if this may work.

Good question: Hives (or urticaria) represent a sensitivity to something dilating the small vessels under the skin, causing a raised pink lesion; if u press on it, it will blanch, let it go it pinks up again. Many causes: foods, chemicals, perfumes, very often stress. Stress can increase acid formation in stomach, Zantac (ranitidine) reduces it. Over 50% of time, one can't find cause. I treat initially c antihistamines.

Yes: Both of those medicines help treat allergic reactions, but if you are very sensitive you still may get hives. If you have breathing difficulties from a reaction seek emergency care immediately.

? Amoxicillin allerg: Most important is stopping the offending drug, and reporting this to the prescribing doctor, zyrtec (cetirizine) can be taken to control symptoms of allergies and avert complications, for how long , still depends on clinical evaluation, kindly see your doctor
