i recently had stomach bug and was throwing up yellow and also having yellow stool.  i'm still having yellow stool two days later.  any cause for conc?

Yellow stool: Sounds like you had an infectious gastroenteritis which is resolving. The yellow stool is due to reduced reabsorption of bile appearing yellow in the stool. This will resolve soon. Do not worry about this.

: No, that is not the presentation of IBS. Yellow stool is not grossly abnormal and you can stop probiotic and observe for the symptoms in the next couple days.

: The main agent adding color to the poo is the material made by the liver called bile. It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with diarrhea may have a greenish yellow or yellow appearance. The slower, more likely browner.

Virus: If this is a viral intestinal tract infection causing diarrhea or loose stools, the color change is to be expected due to more rapid transit of stools through the intestinal tract and would be a temporary situation. Disorders of liver, pancreas or gall bladder can also cause these color changes. If bm's don't revert to normal after several days, consult your physician or gastroenterologist .

Altered gut flora: When you have an infection, like the flu, it can change the mix of bacteria that normally live in your colon.  
That can give you gas, bloating and change the color of your stools.  A few days of yogurt and normal diet  should straighten things out.

In the modern world,: Ink comes in many colors. There's yellow ink, blue ink, red ink, black ink, etc... Stools that have mucus, red blood, or dark (blackish) blood can mean a serious problem, so would make a patient go to her doctor sooner. A few watery stools with no blood-like colors may be a typical case of stomach flu or food contamination, but a doctor may check if more than 2-3 days, or other worrisome symptoms.

Several reasons: Your doctor will need to ask questions about your diet, dietary habits, recent trips, medications,  sexual  practices, and family history. Based on your answers, the doctor will be able to determine your diagnosis, or else what other tests need to be done since the possibilities are many- infectious  (parasitic, bacterial), or non- infectious (drug effect, autoimmune, etc).

Probably : You may have a viral gastroenteritis. Eat litely. Use Immodium if diarrhea is severe and drink plenty of fluids. If not better in 24 hours see a physician

That can affect how digestion occurs and chemical interaction with the stool. A good probiotic can help return things back to normal.
