Possible sinusitis: sounds like significant post nasal drip
usually with allergies or colds the drainage is fairly clear
When there is color change in the drip it may indicate sinusitis  If persistent or worsening you may need medical attention and antibiotics

Virus &amp;/or allergies: Viral upper respiratory infections can hang around for weeks, but may be compounded by allergies. Sinus infection is another possibility. Best to see a primary care provider at this point for a more complete evaluation. Hope this helps!

Pneumonia : You may have pneumonia or bronchitis. Please have a screening chest image and sputum analysis, including bacterial, fungal and TB cultures. See  MD: Coughing up  yellow sputum may be mild and due to a viral infection that should not be  treated with antibiotics, but only  health care provider can determine that.
    It may also indicate a bacterial infection , especially if accompanied by fever, or if underlying lung disease is present.
   A visit to an md is the best way to determine if this is serious, or needs antibiotics . Cough meds,  xray.

Depends: Generally, a chronic cough is defined as one lasting more than 8 weeks.  The most common causes include post nasal drainage, reflux, and asthma.  Depending on the cause, the treatment is different.   For example for asthma, inhaled corticosteroids are the mainstay.  It's best to see your doctor for testing to determine cause.  Your smoking status is also important.

Maybe postnasal drip: Mild nasal allergies can cause some muscus dripping in back of throat/mouth and collects there during sleep and can turn a bit brown in the am. During day, little mucus/drip is pulled down by gravity, but when sleeping mucus tends to stay in back of throat and thus productive coughing/coughing in the early am. If worsens, call doc for eval. phlegm has changed color from yellow to clear and frothy and now it's white. it's been thick the whole time. diagnosed w/ sinusitis. is this normal?

It can be: Physicians are getting away from focusing on the color of phlegm although sometimes it can be helpful. If you were diagnosed with a sinus infection it can be clear, yellow, green or bloody. If they prescribed treatment I would use all the medicines and if worsening get rechecked. Good luck
