can jaundice start in the hands? i have yellow hands and bottoms of the feet but my eyes and other parts look normal.

Carotonemia: It may be from something as simple as eating too many carrots or foods containing high levels of beta carotene. But other causes should be looked into if this is not what your diet consists, such as diabetes, liver and gall bladder disease. Your primary care doctor can assist you here.

after using hand sanitizer for a couple of days it has stained my hands yellow and flaky, should i be worried?

Sensitivity: Your skin may be extra sensitive to the sanitizer, or perhaps you are using it too often? Washing hands often with soap &amp; water can be very effective for disease prevention, with just occasional use of the hand sanitizer. A good moisturizer with aloe might help the flakiness/dryness

Horsefly bite: Sounds like you are having a localized allergic reaction to the bite, but may also have an infection developing.  Antihistamines may help reduce the swelling, as well as cool compresses, and elevating the hand (prop it up on some pillows), but if there is a question of infection (swelling, redness, warmth) then you need to see your provider for t reatment.

Carotenemia: Yellow staining of palms and soles in children occurs when they ingest excessive amount of carotene, usually harmless.  I doubt any relation between taking Prednisolone and yellow staining of palms ; soles.

Fungus: You may have a fungal infection of your nail. You should see a dermatologist for proper evaluation and treatment.

Possibly.: There are certain lasers that are designed for benign age spots or "liver spots" or solar lentigines that can appear on the top of the hands. Some scarring may result, but usually these are less problematic cosmetically for most patients.

Yellow skin: Yellow stains in skin most likely could be due to something topically being applied or coming in contact with the skin, but can also be seen in people taking high quantities of beta carotene in supplements or foods.  Check your diet and consider what your hands come in contact with.

Have new ones checkd: Although changes in our skin are normal as we age, if u notice new changes that r concerning have them looked at by your regular doctor. Most benign skin changes are easy to identify by looking at them. Skin cancer identification is defined by the a, b, c's.  A- area or size changes. B- borders that are irregular, c-color (multiple colors are concerning) there are some more features but these r basics.

Bilirubinemia?: She could be exhibiting bilirubinemia, which is a deposition of bile in the skin and other tissues.  It often causes itchiness of the skin, yellow eyes,, and dark/yellow urine.  Bilirubin can be elevated from blockages of the small bile ducts in the liver or gallbladder bile duct.

Other possibilities include hormone secreting tumors.

She should definitely see her doctor for evaluation for this.

See below: We cannot make a diagnosis on this forum - heartburn, (and cough) could all come from GERD, - but I would urge you to see your doc asap- food sticking in your throat, and the fact that you noticed  skin is yellow - are not easily explained without an exam and perhaps tests - are the whites of your eyes also yellow - if so could indicate a problem with your liver - to be safe see your doc-good luck
