Antibiotics n' yeast: Antibiotics kill bacteria.  Some bacteria in certain body areas are normal and good.  If they are killed off, it can allow other things to grow instead--yeast.  Some women are very susceptible and antibiotics will often produce a yeast infection.  If this is you, asking for a Fluconazole pill along with your antibiotic prescription may be an answer.

Very common: Antibiotics are common disruptors of the normal vaginal ph balance, and can cause overpoliferation of candidal flora, resulting in "yeast" infections.  Usually, otc treatments or or Diflucan (fluconazole) anti-fungal treatments are effective to resolve symptoms.

Probably not: Avoid it's use.  It could further complicate your yeast infection.

May start on YI: Make sure you finish your penicillin regimen as prescribed but there's no reason to wait on treating the YI.

Tell your Doctor: Your health care providers need to know that you are getting yeast infections after antibiotics, specifically the PCN, so they can give you a prescription for a medication that can prevent it from happenning again.Some patients benefit from using OTC Monistat at the end of treatment with antibiotics or when they start having first signs of discomfort. However, some  will need prescription med.

See a Provider: May still have yeast.  May need to use an oral medication to get rid of it.  There are other vaginal creams that are more effective than Monistat.  Are you eating yogurt or taking a Probiotic?  Since yeast lives in the gut, this may also be helpful.  If you are still bothered, see a provider and check it out.

Yes: Yes, however, since you are pregnant you must have this evaluated by your OB for confirmation.

Medication.: Unfortunately, you will need an antifungal medication to get rid of the fungal infection that was caused by the necessary antibiotic that was used.

5 yr old had a uti, did not help, then given kelfex.then got a yeast infec. and was given nystatin cream and an antifungal for 3 days. she ended up welts and a yeast infection, and a fever with vomiting, penicillin allergy or something else?

: A repeat urine culture is recommended, since she may have a partially treated UTI. Consider an allergic reaction if she is on oral medication. Use a probiotic after discussion with your PCP during the use of antibiotics. This may help to reduce the occurrence of a yeast infection.  Please see your pediatrician or pediatric urgent care.

Pen and yeast inf.: The short answer is no. You can get a yeast infection if you take his penicillin. However, you can get a yeast infection just from having sex. The penicillin will have nothing to do with it unless you take the medication orally.
