horrible cough, way worse at night. had it for about 1 year. lung xray shows nothing. what should i do?

Cough: Cough is so broad...  A chest x-ray is good, like looking for tumors & such. But does not show alot..  Cough can be from asthma, or a nighttime cough may be from reflux disease (throat is irritated by stomach contents when you lay down & often no actual "stomach" symptoms). It may be side effect of a medication.  Or actual "lung disease" like copd. Just a few poss. ..A year.. Time to see your dr!

my latest chest xray shows an exacerbation of the left lung.  what does this mean? my chest xray shows a shadowy blur along the bottom of my left lung and i continue to cough all the time.  what can i do for the cough.

Simply : Simply described, a lung exacerbation is decreased lung function due to an infection or inflammation. The shadowy blur on your xray is to be evaluated by a radiologist for diagnosis as exacerbation can occur as a result of infection or several other medical conditions (for example: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or cystic fibrosis)
lung exacerbation can cause shortness of breath, increased coughing, fatigue and decreased pulmonary function.
Based on your results, your doctor will develop a treatment regimen that can include  any of the following: antibiotics (to fight an infection), a cough expectorant to loosen fluids, a diuretic to decrease fluid build up, coughing and deep breathing to mobilize fluids and incentive spirometry (a device where the patient sucks air to move a ball to a goal point, promoting deep breathing.)
as your body heals, coughing may increase as fluids get mobilized. Your doctor can prescribe a medication that can ease the pain associated with coughing. Give your doctor a call.

lung xray shows pleural thickening. is that precursor to cancer?

Perhaps: There are many reasons for pleural thickening.  Visit with your doctor; a ct scan may be useful to find out why you have this thickening.

It could be: chest wall pain or musculo-skletal pain.

Bronchitis: And emphysema does this, especially if she smoked.  The power of her cough maynot move the mucus.  She needs an exam, a chest xray and pulmonary function test.

Pulmonology referral: Please request a Pulmonology referral from your PCP. TB should be ruled out and other causes of infection. Your pain may be related to muscle strain, particularly if there is a chronic cough.

a lung xray shows the arorta is enlarged . is it dangerous? sendn me to heart dr.can too many aspirin over time cause this?

Needs eval: X-ray not best at accutately measuring size of aorta but good screening test.  Has nothinig to do with aspirin.  Heart doctor eval is the right thing to do. Will probably order a CAT (CT) scan of your chest which will provide important information.  Good Luck.

had tb 15 yrs back. routine xray shows chest markings & parenchymal lesion in both lungs.is it because i had tb .should i consult a doctor?

Yes: 15 years back did you have prophylaxis treatment or  regular triple med treatment? You should periodically see your doctor if you start having TB symptoms again.. Also parenchymal lesion in both lungs means latent tb. Please see infectious disease doctor in your area.
