Xray exposure: There are many types of X-rays of the sinus. Dose is related to number of views. CT will give more. I would think no more that you get when you fly from Ottawa to Victoria in plane. But good to discuss with Dr. doing X-rays.

got a dental opg xray done.there is a blur on the left side of the xray but not on right which apparently indicates sinus issues?what does this mean?

Ask the Dentist: Ask the Dentist that ordered the x-ray.  Sometimes if a sinus is infected or filled with fluid (mucous) it can appear cloudy on an x-ray.  Your Dentist may want you to see your PCP or an ENT, but start by asking your Dentist to explain exactly what he/she is seeing.

if i need a sinus x-ray do i go to the hospital and ask?

No: You call your GP or go to a walk in clinic. They will explain why you do not need a sinus xr and help you with the problem.  A sinus x-ray is not needed to diagnose most all sinus problems so it is a waste of time of money. If you have been hit in the face or had some trauma then a CT of the face would be more useful.

Edematous: They probably meant edematous, or swollen.

i am having dry cough from 3 month, now p.n.s xray showed that mucosal thickening noted in maxillary sinus and frontal sinus appear hypoplastic. help?

Maybe: People with chronic sinusitis often have a persisting cough as one of their main, or only, symptoms.  The mucosal thickening of the maxillary sinus is often indicative of chronic sinusitis.  The hypo plastic frontal sinus just didn't develop fully and likely has nothing to do with your cough.  I would recommend consultation with ENT physician.  Medications and further imaging may be necessary.

would a sinus x-ray likely show a nasopharyngeal tumor?

Sinus Xray: If the tumor was large enough, maybe, but in general, sinus xrays are not very useful to evaluate for a nasopharyngeal tumor. Direct visualization or cross sectional imaging with CT or MRI would be much better.

Pretty much: Normal troponin and normal ECG would rule out almost all cases of myocarditis. An echo would clinch it.

does a dentist know through a regular digital dental x-ray that a person needs a sinus lift or is there a more reliable image method?

Type of scans: In many cases, all that is needed is a 2d conventional x-ray to determine that a sinus lift is necessary for the placement of a dental implant. There are more accurate and revealing image methods such as a cat scan or cbct (cone beam computerized tomography) 3d image.

24/m. difficultybreathing. sinus series chest xray all negative. no help from standard rx's; only relief came from magnesium iv. dr out of ideas, help?

Rule outs...: You will want to make sure you don't have asthma, which might not show up on xray.  A clear chest xray rules out pneumonia, while a negative sinus series makes acute sinusitis unlikely.  Is your trouble breathing in your nose, your throat, or your chest?
