Very rarely, yes: The most common medicines to cause prolactin to rise, are antipsychotics through effects on dopamine.  If you're also taking one of those, it would  be the more likely cause.  Usually benzodiazepines depress prolactin through their effects on gaba, but xanax (alprazolam) is different.  By unclear mechanism, it can [very rarely] raise prolactin levels.  Dose and frequency for this to happen is unknown.

You will Survive: They are synergistic and you shouldn't drink while on them. Especially if you have no tolerance to them and don't take them regularly. Do one or the other- not both.

8 mg daily: Xanax, generic alprazolam, is available in pharmacies notionally in dosages of 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg. The  dosage range varies widely, depending on you diagnosis, and reaction to treatment with this medication. Most people do we on much less than the maximum recommended dosage, for control of anxiety, panic disorder, and insomnia. Try to keep your daily, intermittent dosing to am minimum.

Depends: The appropriate dose of alprazolam depends on the diagnosis, other medications being prescribed as well as other medical conditions that may be present. Doctors vary greatly in their comfort level in prescribing benzodiazepines including Xanax. Although the FDA labeling can be as high as 3mg three times daily for panic, very few patients are prescribed more than 1mg four times daily.

Depends: Xanax (alprazolam) is a fast short acting anti-anxiety medication.  I would take it 30 mins before take off or earlier if anxious at the airport.  Take the lowest dose that reduces your anxiety.  Its always easy to add a 1/2 tablet if needed but if you take to much you wont feel well.  Always take a test dose before the flight in the safety of your home because you need to know how your body reacts to the med

WD??: Are you using "WD" to refer to withdrawal?  Glad to hear that your doctor is tapering you down on your xanax dose. Tapering off of xanax should be done slowly. Give your physician feedback about symptoms that you are experiencing. 15 years is a very long time to be on a benzodiazapine .

Xanax (alprazolam): Assume by 'freak out' you mean panic/anxiety attack. Xanax (alprazolam) is short-acting, generally lasts 4-6 hours varies with individual, other meds you may take etc. Discuss dose, other med options and recurring anxiety symptoms with prescribing doctor. You may do better with: an SSRI type antidepressant, even low-dose, for better coverage, or extended-release Xanax (alprazolam). I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Yes: The dose had little to do with its effectiveness. It mainly depends on if the person had ever been on a benzodiazepine in the past.
