Sounds unusual: If this is the first time it has occurred it is most likely an allergic reaction of some type and shoul resolve with a topical hydrocortisone. If it worsens, recurs or does not improve, i would seek the care and evaluation of a dermatologist.

my son 17 woke up with itchy rash patch on neck that looks a lot like eczema patch. hes never had eczema before. it itches and is inflamed. what is it? also says he doesnt feel well.

Can't say for sure: The most common reason for a localized outbreak on the skin is a contact reaction to some trigger agent. This could be liquid/solid/metal/plant/etc. If it's raw, sometimes a mild OTC steroid cream will help.A localized reaction is rarely the cause or part of another illness. That is likely something else.

Immune system: Hi,  Your immune system's reactions are directly reflected onto your skin as a rash. The most likely triggers are from a topical allergy (cream you use), food allergy (usually gluten/dairy), infection (yeast, etc), heavy metal, chemical or mold. It : It is very difficult to determine the cause of the rash without examining the rash in person.  While there are many possibilities, dry skin can be the cause of the rash you are describing; however, strep can also cause a "sandpaper" rash, which is flesh colored and is felt more than it is seen.  I would recommend that she be seen by a physician, especially if she has been acting sick in anyway.
