Any dental pain: Warrants it being evaluated. We can't diagnose a patient's problems over the internet without both personally examining you and seeing an x-ray or two of the site in question. Infection: Infection most probable cause.  Clenching/grinding also a possibility.  See a wisdom tooth specialist, an Oral Surgeon for definitive diagnosis and treatment.  Until you can get to Oral Surgeon, if drinking causes drinking, don't drink until you receive treatment.

Warm salt water: Rinsing with warm salt water is the panacea of household remedies. It has no true medicinal value but may make the area feel better for a short time. I strongly urge you to have the area evaluated by a dentist asap. This is a sensitive part of the oral anatomy and using anything to deaden pain without a diagnosis is imprudent.

Keep it clean: The best solution is to get it removed.  Until you can do that i suggest keeping it really clean.  Use a syringe with water or salt water to clean up under any gum tissue, this should keep inflammation down to a minimum until you can get the tooth removed.

NSAIDs: OTC NSAIDs can help with pain and inflammation. Please try calling a local oral surgeon. Most medical offices are open for emergencies only, and this probably falls into that category.

For example, some people are not safe to drive no matter what the situation is... which is why we in the U.S. have 34,000 deaths each year by car wrecks. Other variables besides the skill of the driver, include the distance driven, the safeness of the route taken, the degree of distraction by the unusual jaw and face sensations after the procedure, etc...
