No: Basically if you put more energy into a system than you use you will gain weight. If you put in less than you use up you will lose weight.
If you are having trouble gaining weight you need to be checked out for diabetes, thyroid and neoplasm.

Not necessarily: If you start exercising less it means that you have to be more careful about how many calories you eat.   Less physical activity means less calories burned, so you have to eat less to keep your weight stable.   Best of luck.

Opioid addiction: Some lose weight as they stop eating and spend all their time trying to get opioid. And can't spell opioid.
If you don't exercise because of pain or just laying around all the time and eating that will cause weight gain.

Recommend you get app myfitnesspal and track everything you eat and drink and do and then you can see if you need to decrease calories and or increase intake.

on 20mg amitriptyline over a year for chronic sinus related headaches. it works for me, but worried about addiction? also, does it cause weight gain?

Amitriptylene: Amitriptylene is not an "addictive" medication.  It does not induce tolerance as benzodiazepines like xanax, (alprazolam) etc, can.  In some people it can increase appetite, leading to weight gain.  However, you are on a very low (20mg) dose, so this is less likely.  Also you are forewarned and can now increase exercise and eat more healthily so you avoid even that potential issue.  Good luck to you!

Looks like it did.: Methadone in and of itself does not usually cause weight gain and certainly not a large gain.  However, the preceding heroin may have caused significant weight loss which makes it appear that Methadone caused weight gain. Swelling in hands and feet is concerning for lots of other things including malnutrition, chronic liver, kidney and heart disease in addition to a host of inflammatory disorders.

Some people : have carbohydrate cravings. Maybe you do. I love spaghetti. However when spaghetti is eaten - insure that it is part of a well balanced diet. If you are gaining weight - take a look at what you are eating, how much you are eating and your activity level. Insure that calories consumed are not greater than calories burned or you will gain weight. Take care.

Sounds OK.: Low in calories.  Has some fiber. Not bad. No protein, though; make sure you get that during the day.
