They can be helped, made smaller, less painful, etc. By simply using a bandaid (perforated preferred to allow evaporation of moisture) across the scar under tension. Stick the bandaid down on one side of the scar, then pull across the scar with tension and stick down on the other side of the scar, pulling the skin together at the scar to relax the skin.

Waste of money: Any lubricating oil or vaseline will be useful. Bio oil is nothing special.

No: A second degree burn by definition should not leave a scar.  That said, keep moisturizers on the area for at least 3 months and no sun exposure to the area.

No: Scars are permanent  and there is nothing one can do to get "rid" of a scar.  Many different options exist for improving the scar.   How old is the burn?  If it is relatively recent - time is the best option.  During the waiting period,  multiple options exist such as silicone sheeting, scar creams, etc.  Best to ask your plastic surgeon.

SUGGESTIONS: If it is a true second degree burn, will blister, but unlikely to leave significant scar.  Suggest next time you get a kitchen burn, assuming it is minimal, apply ice locally for 10-15 minutes. (Seems to work amazingly well in most cases, and actually can reverse much of the immediate signs.)
