BUN: Your blood urea nitrogen (BUN) level is OK. Stay hydrated as dehydration will tend to increase the BUN while leaving the creatinine level fairrly stable.

Yes: Carbohydrates are not an essential part of the human diet because glucose is a breakdown product of protein metabolism. However, simple and complex carbohydrates are a plentiful source of energy and are useful to people engaged in high level physical activity. Avoid processed sugars and flour, which are nutritionally poor sources of energy. Use whole fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, and grains.

Renal & venous probs: An elevated BUN & creatinine for 2 yrs. Means that you have chronic renal disease. You are on the worst possible diet for this, which should be low protein and low sodium. The swelling may be due to this + chronic venous insufficiency, which is more likely--for anatomic reasons--to occur in left leg. An internist specializing in kidney disease (nephrologist) is whose care you should be under.

lately, i was found with minor high level of thyroid.i workout and i drink whey protein shakes..so is it safe to take whey in thyroid disorder?

No iodine: The only dietary restriction for most people with mildly high thyroid levels is to avoid excess iodine, typically found in seaweed or kelp.  Whey protein is derived from milk products and does not have excess iodine, so it is safe.

ive just had a phonecall from the doctor as my recent blood test is showing raised parathyroid hormone level (i am on thyroid tablets already) and serum protein electrothoresis showing a monoclonal igg iam bda paraprotein. what does this mean?

: You should not confuse thyroid gland with parathyroid glands. Parathyroid glands, usually 4 of them, are imbedded in the thyroid. You take thyroxine for hypothyroidism but you have hyperparathyroidism (i.e hyperactive parathyroid glands).  Because of high calcium level, your doctor ordered PTH level and serum electropheresis. Please read the next comment because there is not enough space.

my doc prescribed ketosteril. why? my cretenine level is 1.7. i have ckd.  how effective and safe is it? do i have to lower protine intake?

Get a 2nd opinion: Ketosteril is a not-very-well-established treatment for real chronic kidney disease in its later stages. It's Amino Acids and calcium and I can't see why it's promoted. When I was lifting weights daily, my creatinine regularly ran 1.6-1.7.  Without additional evidence that you're actually sick rather than just a big man, I would not accept either the diagnosis or the treatment.

: Those test results and night sweat are abnormal but non specific; however, the small lump needs to be checked for ruling out a thyroid nodule.

Non dairy sources include chia seeds, beans, lentils, quinoa, eggs, artichokes, broccoli, avocado, asparagus, tofu, peas, spinach, beet greens, peanuts, pistachios, sesame seeds, garbanzo beans.
