is it okay to apply vaseline (petroleum jelly) on eyelashes ? i heard it makes them grow longer and thicker. if not, is there any other solutions ?

Accepted Answer

No problem: Vaseline will not harm the eye or eyelid but it has no effect on eyelash growth.  If you want eyelashes to be thicker and longer, use latisse (bimatoprost).   It is available from your ophthalmologist or dermatologist.

i accidentally steam burned my face and used petroleum jelly to cool it off with. i had long hair and it has now hardened with my hair and i can't get it off of my head and my neck. i did this last october and i can't get anyone to believe me now?

Accepted Answer

: The petroleum jelly should have removed with warm water and soap and water. The warm water would soften the petroleum jelly so that the soap and water could then remove it. Have you tried a scrub-like a face mask type scrub? Also, something like a pumice stone after exposing it to a warm temperature to soften it should help. If none of these things are working, see a dermatologist to remove it.

can i put petroleum jelly on the head of my newly circumcised penis to get rid of the itchy feeling?

Circumcision: Absolutely. We tell our ostensibly to apply any type of ointment to decrease itching discomfort or redness

i got a ~1cm boil on my inner thigh, close to my panty line, due to the chafing of my pants and underwear. how can i make it go away? i'm applying petroleum jelly to avoid more chafing. should i pop it? it has a visible head?

Accepted Answer

: Boils may drain spontaneously if you apply moist heat several times daily. However, many that size or bigger need to be drained surgically in the office to have the core/lining removed or the recur repeatedly.

i have a little bump on the center of my left eyelid that hurts. i can't see a head. i applied a warm compress and it stings --possibly i scratched on my sleep and caused it. i also applied a little bit of petroleum jelly on it. what else can i do?

: If that bump is where the eyelashes come out, you probably have a sty. If it's on the skin between the eyelashes and eyebrow, likely you have a pimple. You did the right thing, keep apply warm compress every 4-6 hours for the next 2 days, no need for k-jelly.

should i cover it or let it air dry?

Accepted Answer

Burn Types: Depends on the type of skin burn: First degree burns are red, painful and dry but no blisters. No ointment. Apply a hydrocolloid pad for pain relief. Second degree burns are red, swollen and blistered. Do not pop the blister. Apply antibiotic ointment and cover with a soft non-stick gauze pad. Third Degree burns appear white, charred and painless since the nerves are destroyed. See a DR for these.

Won't help: Petroleum jelly won't help cuts heal and will not effectively prevent infection. Better for them to be exposed to air, and petroleum jelly blocks it.

: Petroleum jelly has no significant antibacterial effect beyond acting as a barrier to their location. As a barrier it can be helpful. If germs are trapped under a layer of petroleum jelly they are free to multiply and cause infection..

Certainly: Any lubricant that is designed for use on the skin is safe.
