Nasal congestion : I like to use flonase, but it has the side effect of nasal bleeding in rare people. Many people use saline nasal spray. Avoid sugar, dairy, and fatty foods. Drink a lot of water.

my daughter is 1 week old and has trouble breathing. her nasal passage seems congested. what can i do to help her breathe easier?

No meds: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages &amp; exposure to dust, fragrences, smoke &amp; other irritants.Baby tries to flush these out of the nose  with mucous but this often ends as congestion &amp; produces rattling with breathing &amp; cough. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline &amp; suctioning the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment &amp; this will happen less.

Possibly.: However, there can be multiple other explanations for these kind of symptoms also. I think a good test would be to see if your nasal symptoms improve after a course of good medications for the reflux. If they do, that would lend some strong support to that possibility. Good luck.

Afrin (oxymetazoline): Afrin can irritate your nose especially if you taking it too long or it is too dry or already raw, try nasal saline and that is not enough, see your doctor for meds.

my nasal passage gets quite a bit painful when i'm outside n breathing in cold air, if i cover my nostrils the pain goes away, why does it hurt?

Dryness or cold sens: Cold air doesn't  hold as much moisture and can be irritating especially if the nose is already dry which it is this time of year which is why it's better when it's covered.  Suggest drops of sesame oil several times daily especially in the winter.  It is a great moisturizer.  Consider nasal steroid if oil doesn't work.

was diagnosis with mono and herpes simplex i in scalp and have burning in back of throat and nasal passage too for 2 months is this related to diagnos?

Maybe: herpes of the mouth is usually confined to lip areas or nasal opening "cold sores"
in children it can appear in the throat
mono can 'run you down' and you may be more vulnerable to infections of the throat and gums which may respond to antibiotics

Symptoms: Suspicion for COVID 19 is higher if you have at least 2 of these sx’s: temp of at least 99.6, Cough, Shortness of breath, Chills, Shivering, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat or new loss of taste or smell. Rest, hydrate, quarantine &amp; eat healthfully. May use acetaminophen, saline for nasal irrigation, decongestant or cough syrup. Naprosyn is a good choice if NSAID’s are used.

Sick.: Sounds like you are sick and need care now.  ? pneumonia ? Breathing should not be difficult in a minor illness or cold.  You should see the emergency department now or at least your doc first thing in the am.

Virus: Most likely you have a virus. We can order a strep test if the sore throat is very severe. Drink plenty of fluids, drink bone broth/chicken soup, get plenty of rest. Consult with us if you do not get better with this or if you have a fever.
