: Testing for drug exposure is not an automatic part of the evaluation at delivery. That said, if I have reason to suspect it, state law may require testing. If I look, I can find evidence of drug exposure in a newborn as far back as the 12th week of pregnancy.

if a pregnant woman stops doing meth at 7months will the baby test positive at birth?

No: But the baby may have long term damage from the drug use.

If you stop  less likely, though meth may be in meconium (stool)  quite a while after last use.  Mmeth  can have intrauterine effects.

If the ONLY QUESTION you have is whether your baby will TEST POSITIVE you are in need of PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP!

Pregnancy/ drug use: you recognize the important thing you used. You need to seek help from your OB, your drug counselor if you have one, you need one if you don't.  The question is not wether your baby will be positive, it won't if you don't use again, but how do you not use again so your baby will be healthy and not born an addict.  Tell your doctor, your parents, whoever you need to right now, protect that baby!

Meth in pregnancy: The damage by methamphetamine to a developing baby during pregnancy is unpredictable and potentially serious. Additionally it is essential for the baby's well being for mom to stay in sobriety. I would urge you to do all you can to persuade your friend to get professional help to stay drug free.

Talk to your doctor: Generally, withdrawal in infants is seen more with women using opiates during pregnancy, and not as much with other drugs. It is in your best interest, and baby's best interest, to stop using meth as soon as possible.

Yes: but I would be more worried about maternal relapse and baby's signs of withdrawal

No: It will not show in the baby's blood or urine. Never ever expose yourself or your child to this again, however. Get into treatment if you have to. If you love your baby and want him or her to have a respectable life, then you will stop. If not, do not be surprised if your child is eventually taken away, a scenario i hope you care enough to avoid. Do the right thing.
