3 yr old diet: Its very important to avoid sugary substances (juice, soda drinks). I would add more veggies and fruits (guava is really good to help firm up the stool). Snacks high in fiber.

Some natural rx: Applesauce, breads, fresh bananas &amp; rice are natural bulking agents that can slow &amp; firm up poop. If it continues for more than a few days or the kid is acting sickly consider having him seen.

Check ingredients...: If your multivitamin is high in magnesium, you're getting a laxative effect equivalent to taking milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide). Alternatively, some pill vehicles can cause loose stool, even if the pill ingredients do not. In any case, stop taking the supplement & if diarrhea persists, another cause must be sought.

Gallbladder: Gallbladder problems not usually associated with diarrhea as the  synptoms are more of a blocking of bile by stones in the gallbladder. Diarrhea can happen  after gallbladder comes out

Fruits &amp; diarrhea: The sugar content of fruits is fairly high, and that high sugar content in a stressed intestinal tract  will prolong the loose stools. While not dangerous for him, it will prolong the time he has loose stools and may cause some cramping and gas. If your pediatrician says it's best to wait a few weeks to give fruit again, I would heed his/her call and choose other options for a few weeks.

Large doses of: Vitamin c can cause loose stools. The threshold is different for each person. How the vitamin c is formulated also makes a big difference.
