the lack of sleep and anxiety attacks have become detremental to me while i am at work. i would love a way to keep the anxiety attacks under control and to get a good nights sleep. i have tried everything: yoga, meditation, tea, melatonin, etc. ?

Sleep hygiene is key: Retire &amp; rise same time each day. Bedroom should be dark &amp; cool - used only for sex &amp; sleep. Turn off tv. No naps. Exercise regularly but not in late evening. No caffeine for 6 hrs &amp; no alcohol or tobacco w/i 2 hrs of sleep. Dinner should be moderate sized &amp; finished at least 2 to 3 hours before sleep. Can try warm milk, chamomile tea or melatonin along w light reading, warm bath, lavender scent.

Inhalers: can help with asthma attacks.  If an asthmatic is having a panic attack - an inhaler may be helpful. However, in general - inhalers are not used to treat panic attacks.

Maybe a little: Atarax (hydroxyzine) is an antihistamine, which can have some calming effect.  Although it's not clear it would stop a full-blown panic attack, it might help at least for awhile with anxiety.  However, if you are having anxiety and panic attacks, you would be best served by seeking out a psychiatrist (or child and adolescent psychiatrist if this is for a child) knowledgeable about treating this.

i've been on valsartan for the past 5 months. if i switch to irbesartan will it mess up my bp? i feel like my anxiety/ panic attacks got worse since i started valsartan, even though google/research studies say arbs help anxiety and depression?

: No, it should not mess up your blood pressure but the equivalent dosage may not work the same so dose may need adjustment up or down. As long as you stay on medication, you are not in any danger.

would it be ok my family doctor for a rx for valium to help anxiety before tattoo? i have anxiety and i get panic attacks before piercings and such...

Not a good reason.: If you suffer from anxiety before getting a tattoo then why are you getting one? I am not sure that your family dr. would prescribe Valium so you can get one. Ask yourself if you will regret getting a tattoo 20 years from now. Some of them are more painful to remove then they are to get them.

There are natural: supplements for anxiety, GABA being one.  Please check w/your doc or a natural medicine professional before choosing any of these.  Also consider using the "Relaxation Response" book and technique by Herbert Benson.  Peace and good health.

Melatonin taken: during the daytime is likely to make you feel groggy.  Though often used for depression, 5HTP can be useful.  Here&#x27;s a list from WebMD
