Depends: If one is constipated, use a clear liquid diet for 24hrs, then orally administer mag citrate or go-lytely. If one has an acute diverticulitis, then antibiotics are needed, and a low residue diet should initially be followed.

Could be: If you emptied effectively you may not have had any more move down into position for emptying.If this is a recurring problem, something like Miralax (polyethylene glycol) taken daily for a few weeks can soften/move things along enough to get and stay regular.  You can then drop to using it half dose for a while then stop.In spite of its name, it's more of a moisture retainer than a laxative.

Wouldn't matter: These dissolve over time after insertion (as long as you take the wrapper off).You may experience an odd sense of fullness after insertion as part of the condition that led to its use.

Not sure what is: Obvious, but glycerine is the mildest of stimulants to help. It is discourage for people during chemotherapy when blood counts are low because anal stimulatin may allow bacterial entry into the blood stream, and bleeding in those with fragile hemorrhoids.

I suppose...but: This does have moisturizing properties. You can find the liquid in a bottle at Walmart under the name vegetable glycerin.

Senna - Glycerin: Both glycerin and senna laxatives are rather safe, but they do work in different ways.  Senna is considered a stimulant laxative and glycerin is a lubricant.  Depending on the cause of the constipation, glycerin is the "gentler" option.  However, I have seen situations where both senna and glycerin suppositories were used together.
