Varies: Soleus muscle injury may be under-reported due to misdiagnosis as thrombophlebitis or lumping of soleus strains with strains of the gastrocnemius. The classic presentation is of calf tightness, stiffness, and pain that worsen over days to weeks. Walking or jogging tends to provoke symptoms . Swelling and disability are generally mild.

Probably OK.: The tongue, like any muscle, can be strained. Pain under the tongue or jaw may be from a blocked salivary gland, or a swollen lymph node. Get checked out if your symptoms continue.

Platysma Band: Normally there is mild asymmetry throughout the body, but sometimes it is more noticeable. Regardless, that is your anatomy and there is no reason for concern. For the most part, platysma muscles are vestigial and serve no function in humans.

out of nowhere my neck, upper back, and jaw muscles have gotten sore. i haven't laid down or strained them. it has even moved to my cheeks. what is it?

Bruxism: Hard to say without more information. Your symptoms often result from bruxism - clenching and grinding of the teeth. See your DDS or oral surgeon for assessment. If negative, see  MD.

Pain: It is difficult to say what location is the source of the pain but all are likely connected.  Possibilities include muscle tension and pinched nerves.  Please see your doctor.  If stress related a clinical psychologist may be helpful.  One who does biofeedback or clinical hypnosis (www.asch.net) may be especially good.

i had pain in my chin and concerned if that indicates a broken jaw or just muscle pain/strain.  pain was so bad i couldn't sleep. didn't have any major trauma, but received one jab, 2 days ago.

due to wrong sitting/sleeping posture i was getting right side ear jaw & shoulder pull/pain.i started going to gym and now my neck shoulders are paining. how do i differentiate between muscle strain and slip disc.does slip disc in neck need operation?

Neck problems: Medical history, physical examination and radiographic studies would be used to determine if there was a disc injury.  Not all intervertebral disc problems require surgery. You are trying to reduce something that would require complex assessment into something much simpler.
