i would like to know. i just started taking phentermine for weightloss 3 days ago. took a pregnancy test and got a positive result. can this be a false positive?

: hCG  hormone is produced by the placenta after an egg is fertilized and attached to the uterine wall. I am unaware that Phentermine would cause an increase in hCG levels. Please consult with your prescribing physician about continuing this medication while pregnant.

: Get a blood test for HCG level to settle the issue. A reading of 30 or greater would indicate pregnancy.

May: Alcohol is a diuretic and may dilute the urine enough to alter the results of a test. If you are planning to be pregnant, you should abstain from alcohol entirely. Alcohol intake during pregnancy is the commonest avoidable cause of mental retardation in the newborn.

No effect: If you are in a position to get pregnant, or desire to get pregnant , now is a terrific time to stop smoking cigarettes which can affect your baby.  If your weed habit is minimal that should pose no risk.  Neither of these will alter a pregnancy test.
