Unlikely: At your age it is much more likely you have a recurrence of your prior illness or a new infection. Take measures to treat your symptoms and if not improving within 24/48hrs get a culture of your mucous done as well as consider getting a chest x-ray if problems persist. May also want to wear a mask to protect others till you are well

bronchitis for 2 weeks.on 3rd day of z pak (azithromycin). still have fevers, cough, huff and puffing, a horrible soar throat started and runny nose.what should i do?

Finish antibiotics: Go see your doc, especially if by "huff and puffing" you mean "short of breath" or difficulty breathing, in which case, you should go back sooner than later. You've listed z pak, Aldactone (spironolactone) & flexeril, none of which help w/breathing per se. Azithromycin has a long half-life so you only need to finish the pack but it will stay in your system for a 10-14d. New study says average cough can last 18d.

sore throat runny nose cough, can't walk across room to short of breath. put on z-pak and arbutral inhaler every 4 hours. last pill of 5 day course today. coughing green/ yellow phelm sounds worse can't make it across room w/o resting? pls help?

: I am sorry to read that you are so unwell, clearly you need physical help, taht is something we can not offer on line. are you a church member? do you have any freins nearby, any neighbors who you can call.  Those are the places I suggest you start.

Unlikely: Anyone can have any reaction to a medicine, but the likelihood of this being a side effect is very low.  As you know, that med is used to treat upper respiratory infections, and your symptoms are more likely related to the underlying infection rather then the medicine

i have a fever for like last 7 to 8 days and little bit of runny nose for 3 days . and a month before i tested covid positive and in week tested negative . so can i use azithromycin oseltamivir and peracitamol?

COVID testing: Influenza tends not to cause prolonged fever more thn 7 days. A chest image, sputum culture and treatment with an antibiotic as indicated are recommended. COVID 19 repeat testing is suggested, but please check with your local health department. The use of oseltamivir is most effective in the first two days of an illness. Use Tyelenol rather than Motrin and stay well hydrated.

Flu like symptoms: COVID 19 screening is suggested, stay home, self isolate until evaluated. 
The pulmonary bleeding must be evaluated, but if the nasal passage are inflamed, the source may be non pulmonary as well. Continue the medication, use Tylenol for fever, avoid Motrin until test negative (it has been associated with worsening in COVID 19). The chest radiograph indicates a possible pneumonia. ED for distress.

Not likely: Antibiotics used to treat utis are chosen based on the actual bacteria grown in the urine culture. Azithromycin which is the antibiotic in zpack is not a good choice for the most common organisms causing utis in women in their 40s.

About 2 weeks: Zithromax has a half life of 72 hours.  So it takes about 2 weeks to clear from your system.

will a z-pack help an infected pilonidal cyst?

Accepted Answer

Z-Packs are for-: -respiratory infections, consulting with a general surgeon is best. Pilonidal cysts are treated with other antibiotics, and if infected badly enough surgical option may be in order. Levoflaxin , or a drug related to Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is usually used.
