Yes, needling helps: There is good evidence to show that micro-needling such as with the derma-roller is beneficial in reducing the appearance of scars.  Keep in mind the word reduce, not eliminate.  This is not a miracle cure but it is very low risk and there is little chance it will make it worse.

Deep 2nd or 3rd: Superficial second degree and first degree burns usually regenerate and heal with minimal loss of the dermis. If your wound is depressed, the scar likely extended to the deep dermis or superficial subcutaneous tissues.

Scar treatment: Burn scar can be treated with mild moisturizers, such as cocoa butter, or petroleum based lotion.  You can also apply vitamin E oil on the scar. The area shouldn't have any sun exposure for at least a year. Scaring depends on your genetics. With the same injury, some people develops scar, while others don't. Probably should be seen burn specialist if you have any further questions.

Waste of money: Any lubricating oil or vaseline will be useful. Bio oil is nothing special.

Accepted Answer

No: Scars are permanent  and there is nothing one can do to get "rid" of a scar.  Many different options exist for improving the scar.   How old is the burn?  If it is relatively recent - time is the best option.  During the waiting period,  multiple options exist such as silicone sheeting, scar creams, etc.  Best to ask your plastic surgeon.

SUGGESTIONS: If it is a true second degree burn, will blister, but unlikely to leave significant scar.  Suggest next time you get a kitchen burn, assuming it is minimal, apply ice locally for 10-15 minutes. (Seems to work amazingly well in most cases, and actually can reverse much of the immediate signs.)

Promote healing: The best way is to protect the wound to speed up healing i.e. Leave the blister intact unless it is so large it is a problem.  Then a doctor should debride it and provide a sterile dressing and antibiotic cream.  Keep the mark out of direct sunlight and don't smoke as it slows healing.  You can also purchase silicone gel/ sheeting as that can speed fading. See a plastic surgeon for further help.

Sometimes: It can take a year for the body to heal a second degree burn. The faster it heals the less likely a hypertrophic scar forms. If you have persistent vascular color and itching, additional scar treatment may help. Check in with your doctor to see what will help in your case.

Can be helped: Scars are caused by tension in the skin.  They can be helped, made smaller, less painful, etc. By simply using a bandaid (perforated preferred to allow evaporation of moisture) across the scar under tension. Stick the bandaid down on one side of the scar, then pull across the scar with tension and stick down on the other side of the scar, pulling the skin together at the scar to relax the skin.
