massaging a pulled muscle around armpit and swelled up a lymph node in top of armpit by accident.  will it go back down?

lymph nodes: Often armpit lymph nodes are not an issue. When they are larger than 1cm we sometimes are concerned. I small lymph nodes very often on examinations. Or a few occasions I have found that they were associated with very serious conditions, but rarely. The answer for you is best addressed with an in-person examination, while your doctor sees the big picture. It probably not related to the message.

i have a lymph node under my ear for about a year now that swells up and down all the time but never goes away what could this be?

Get checked: The lymph nodes enlarge when there is an immune response and in your case from another infection.  Sometimes scarring occurs leaving the node enlargement permanent. In your case however , it may be a response to a smothering infection which waxes and wanes. Talk to your doctor..

i got the flu about 2 yrs ago and had a lymph node on side of neck swell then when i was better it went down a little but is still there. is this norm?

It may be a : Chronically inflammed gland . Typically it should go down all the way. Have your doc check it for you.

i took amoxicillin for middle ear infection. the swell in my lymph node went down but now its back? serious?

Accepted Answer

When lymph nodes...: ...Are swollen, it means they are active and the immune system is fighting something.  This is a good thing. If, however, the node is red and hot and tender, then the node itself is infected and you need to see your doctor. You should also see your doctor if the enlarged nodes persist for a very long period of time beyond when you are otherwise well.

all say its tonsil stone/food particles traping from yellowish exudate in my tonsil.so why my right jaw lymph node is swell when i go this condition?

Infection: Although the food particles may be present and cause a bad odor, do not forget that you may also have inflammation in the tonsillar tissue because there are bacteria adjacent to the food particles.  The jaw lymph node is swollen most likely because you have inflammation in the tonsil and the lymph node is the first immune tissue preventing the infection from spreading further.  Consider removal.

Time heals: Lymph nodes can take months or more to return to baseline.

i had vocal cord surgery about two weeks ago to remove a polyp and about three days ago i had a lymph node swell under my left jaw.is this normal?

: A lymph node in that location processes serum from the nearby throat/gums and skin structures. I  would not assume it has anything to do with a procedure over 10 days previous to the noted change.

Lymph node: It may take up to 1 to 3 weeks for the swollen lymph node to subside after you are done with antibiotics. If the lymph node is still bigger and painful then, the patient needs to be seen.

Monitoring Centers: The lymphatic system absorbs and carries things too big to go into the arteries and veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food.  A lymph node "tastes" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and swells in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  Can occur quickly.

Typically 2-4 wks..: Swollen lymph nodes are reactive to infection of some types and these nodes tend to subside in 2-4wks time. Some may persist much long if chronic-active infections such as hiv/monos etc. Obviously cancerous node tend to persist and grow as well..So if a node is not subsiding after a few wks, check with your doc...Good luck.
