my nose won't stop running like a faucet. i've tried multiple allergy pills to no avail. please help me get my nose to stop running. ?

See Allergist: You need to be seen by an Allergist as you are likely suffering from chronic rhinitis and need further testing and evaluation. Skin or blood testing can be performed to see what you are allergic to and can assist in avoidance measures. Daily steroid sprays can be helpful for allergic rhinitis. Ipratropium bromide can be great for drying out nose for persistent dripping/running.

Do you have: allergies? Neti pots can reduce nasal congestion. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup distilled lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Place solution in neti pot. Tilt head &amp; pour solution into 1 nostril. Blow nose lightly &amp; spit out any liquid that drains into throat. Repeat on other side.

hi. my allergies are killing me! nose won't stop running and i am quite drowsy... been taking zyrtec (cetirizine) regulary for over a month! is it okay to take every 12 hours?

Zyrtec (cetirizine): Although on rare occasion Zyrtec (cetirizine) may be taken twice a day, it can cause drowsiness.  Check with your PCP for a more effective way to treat your allergies with less side effects.

i have been taking claritin and sudafed pe together and doing a nasal spray my nose won't stop running help?

Try something else: Neither Claritin (loratadine) nor Sudafed should have enough anticholinergic effect to stop a runny nose if that is the primary problem.  Chlorpheniramine is an older generation antihistamine that may help, but beware of warnings on the label.  Sinus saline irrigation may help more than you'd think.  Otherwise, need to discuss with a physician to better characterize your rhinitis to guide effective treatment

Some responses: Hard to be precise with scanty data.  Is this acute or chronic?  Could be an episode of Horton's Cephalgia, or Raeder's paratrigeminal neuralgia, but could be ocular, such as acute glaucoma, or even a bad sinus infection.  Strongly urge getting your doctor involved ASAP.

Side effect?: You may want to go over his new medications. Some medications can cause runny noses. Some new class blood pressure medications like arb's can cause a runny nose. Check with your doctor about the sude effects of your new medicines.

pillow poked my eye. eye hurts not red but nose is running non stop related? i have been fighting a cold that wont quit. no fever just cannot seem to kick this. slight cough non productive. thoughts. pulsox is good as is heart rate?

: Your runny nose is related to your 'cold'. Pl see your MD. In the meantime gargle with salt water several times a day, drink plenty of fluids and take OTC cold medicine. Hope you feel better.

i put prescription hydrocortisone cream inside of my nose. now i have been sneezing for hours and my nose won't stop running. is this bad?

Maybe rebound : Sneezing and runny nose are more commonly relayed to upper respiratory tract infections and allergic rhinitis. Depending on the hydrocortisone strength if used for 7 to 10 days or more there could be a rebound effect and taper ensued.  It may also be irritant rhinitis given that it's a cream.  Ointment or an actusl intranasal preparation is preferred. Discuss with thr prescribing doctor.

Runny nose: Over the counter -- if allergy, antihistamines (zyrtec, allegra) may help

if not allergy, the older antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or chlortrimeton have a side effect causing dryness which may work in your favor

rx - meds - nasal steroids for allergy or inflammation, Atrovent Nasal Spray drys out nose very well from most  any cause.

Look for cause: Nasal drainage can be due to allergies, an infection, sinus inflammation, or spinal fluid leak among other causes. Only by establishing the cause can you hope to treat.
