Affects your levels: If you drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruits your Prograf levels will be higher.  This may cause your surgeon to lower your dose then when you are not enjoying your grapefruit your levels will be low and your grafts will be at risk for rejection.

Grapefruit juice: Grapefruit juice interferes with statin metabolism and increases their blood levels, which sometimes can lea to side effects. Atenolol is not a statin and there is no problem mixing the two.d

sense grapefruit can naturally lower cholesterol, would it be ok to stop my prescribed cholesterol meds and just eat grapefruit for a natural remedy without the side effects of the meds?

Not a good idea: There is no evidence that grapefruit will lower cholesterol. Do not discontinue your medication without discussing it with your doctor.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/.

Not an issue: Fresca should not be an issue with your blood pressure meds.

: The affect does not change with the time you are taking it. It should be taken with food Grapefruit in any form is contraindicated. Pl follw the directions given by your doc.

This is a good ques-: Tion...In general the recommendation is no, however, my patients that really want to i tell to limit to 1/2 fresh grapefruit ...No grapefruit juice.

Accepted Answer

Try to avoid it: You should try to avoid grapes or grapefruit while on Geodon (ziprasidone). When the drug is swallowed, some of it is broken down to inactive form by enzymes. Grape juice can interfere with the action of those enzymes so more of the drug can be absorbed, This can lead to some heart problems while on Geodon (ziprasidone).

Grapefruit: Grapefruit can interact with some antidepressants such as Zoloft, Trazodone, Luvox.  I am not aware of interactions with Lexapro (escitalopram).

Accepted Answer

Yes: There would be no adverse reaction or decrease in effectiveness with topical medication and any food interaction. Perfectly ok.
