No,and maybe: Stains will significantly lower LDL and stabilize plaques and may even cause regression of the plaque. Primary prevention with statins is also well documented. No other agent or class has this data. 30 percent is not bad due to the fact its not blocking flow but can rupture and cause a heart attack.

Would increase: Fish oil to lower triglycerides & may consider Niacin in your case as well.  Exercise & weight loss could also do this...Wouldn't necessarily jump to statins unless these measures were ineffective.

Fish oil has been advocated for reducing production of these compounds, but it is often the reduction in consumption of foods that promote triglycerides that does this (i.e.  during dieting). Another lipid profile is a good idea  at this time.

But people who ingest a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil per day have a high incidence of nausea & vomiting. Coconut oil has the highest saturated fat content of all oils with more than 13 grams of fat per tbs.
